Great another place my Mesmer is not wanted!
This is not a bash on the update, in fact i think the update is great but you can only do so much with Henchmen. I spent 2 hours in the war camp and saw many qoutes of "need people to go to sorrows furnace invite self" or "looking for people to farm invite self" so seeing that it is invite self i do and guess what, Declined or no answer. I have played over 400 hours with my mesmer, and over 50 of those hours were spent trying to get in an Underworld or FOW group, and have only been once in FOW once. I know the box says that you can't make a mistake early in the game that affects you later, that's true unless you make a Mesmer.

The misttake is repeatedly done by players that dont invite a mesmer, especially in the tombs.
in pugs i always pick a mesmer before a warrior, because a mesmer actually reads the skill descriptions and knows the skills everyone is using...

i think that the problem is that gw is populated by a lot of cookie cutter people who just don't realize the uses of other classes. these are the ones who don't have a solid group of people to adventure with and are left to get into a pug.
i, for one, love to have a good mesmer on the team. hex removal and enemy caster shutdown are good things.

It takes a little longer (I might have to hop through a couple districts) to get PvE groups on my mesmer, but perhaps you're not wording your group requests correctly.
But anyways. It's PvE. Missions and quests aren't hard enough to require a full-time mesmer.

Huh, a Warrior/Monk who typos. Imagine that.
You just gotta have patience is all. Or start a group yourself, that's what I'm forced to do alot. I only got a little ways in last night, but I did get inside the Furnace, so it is possible to get in there.

How can you judge if a Mesmer is any good i am not doing spike damage, i am not focus firing, i am hanging back cause of armor level, most of the time i am being chased around and not being healed because i am just a mesmer, and if i die i don't get rezzed until the fight is over. You also can't judge a mesmer until your in the fight which brings me back to the original point of getting on a team. For ever 1 person who wants a mesmer on thier team there is 1000 who don't. To make things worse i got bored waiting in towns trying to find PUGs so i made a new character and guess what it was a Necro.
Same thing so i erased him and made a monk, maybe i can get in groups with him.

And how does one assess a player's "good play" or "poor play" based on "Me/Mo LFG for Furnace"? LOL!
Mesmers are great characters to play. I am patient and, once taken into a group, I am happy because I know they picked -quality- not just the build of the week.

boris : and your statement is relevant how? they will never know how good you are unless they invite you into the group in the first place...
btw : mesmers are actually semi-crucial to killing some of the tougher bosses in the game. thirsty river and their priests, or the mursaat monk boss that pops up every now and then. sometimes you can have a full group of 8 players pouring firepower on that mursaat monk boss and he's healing faster than you can damage him. and dwayna help you if there's a mursaat monk within healing range...
but a single mesmer using diversion -> boss is owned since he will insist on casting spells through diversion. oops, no more skills for him - how many seconds? can i hear you say 47 seconds additional cooldown? =p a spammable, 5 second cooldown skill that disables the NEXT used enemy skill - as a mesmer you don't even need any talent to hit "diversion"... other forms of skill / spell disruption that other players can carry (warrior/rangers) are far inferior because they have little to no hope of disabling orison of healing (1 second cast time is simply too short) and their disable time is NOT enough to kill the boss.
the two so called "tough" missions in the game are suddenly ridiculously easy when you put a mesmer on them. i never had a problem with those two missions simply because i would refuse to start without having a mesmer domination on my team and specifically asking him / her to bring diversion. even backfire pales in comparison - reduced duration on bosses, and long cooldown.
you can complete missions without warriors. you can complete missions without elementalists, without monks even. you can try doing a mission without mesmers, and the end result is the hundreds of complaints about those two missions. go figure.

Hint.
2 Ele monks that think holy damage is great are food by a single mesmer, and he eats the 2 monks right with them.

IMO, people that don't value a mes in areas like SF and FoW really need to rethink their playing styles. mes has got to be one of the coolest classes out there. they are just so mis-understood.

Somehow, I wish others would realise how much easier things go with a mesmer.. having both my monk and a mesmer, I'm finding missions/quests easier with my mesmer and henchies than with my monk.
unfortunatly, no-one wants to listen to me that a mesmer is a good idea.
But... I have no idea how to tell a good player from a bad one... I'm a healer primarily, am I good? I dunno, how do I measure that anyway? Is my mesmer good? Well.. I can solo parts of the game, and normally take on everything with henchies (can you tell I haven't had the guts to pick on the mursat yet?) so I'm really not sure. Only had someone want a mesmer on their team once, and we died before we got to the part they wanted the mesmer for.

The reason i brought this up was because i got into the Sorrow's Furnace and was doing the quest where you got to help the high priest blow up the temple, not sure the name of the quest, but as i had to do it with henchmen
while i am trying to collect the crystals the priest kept geting attacked so since i had henchmen i could not leave any one there to help him. Maybe with the attribute refund points removed it will help since a mesmer can play almost any role except healing of course. Just to let people know who don't invite mesmers to thier groups, I finished Thunderhead Keep first try those mursaat and monk at the end were nothing. Thirsty River i was actually invited to and finished no problem just kept pounding the priest through the walls.

Mesmers are not accepted because people are ignorant and can't appreciate how awesome they are at denial. I know that Diversion and Signet of Humility would have made the Djinn fight a lot smoother for me

Heh, I know with my build I play to my style and actually do more damage than most Mesmers usually do. I take out huge chuncks of life on bosses pretty quickly. And since Mesmer damage spells ignore armor, makes for some fast cast damage

You really suck at getting into a group if you waste this much time doing it.
You can: start your own group
click on people to try to get blind accepted (works very often - just make sure the group isn't crazies)
also when someone asks for people DON'T whisper them, invite them, unless they say you should whisper. so many people whisper me and I'd just like to smack them on the head, especially when I say invite yourself.
